PARTRIDGE AUCTION SALES HIGHLIGHTS AND FUTURE PROJECTS
Despite the long summer break, Partridge Auctions has been busy contacting new vendors and developing exciting new projects for the future.
JUNE AUCTION SALES HIGHLIGHTS
The run-up to the last Partridge Auction in June announced itself literally with a bang as one of the most violent and spectacular hailstorms for years paid a visit to our lakeshore paradise while some vendors were still trying to drop off their goods.
In spite of fallen trees and damaged cars, the storm did not dampen the spirits and certainly did not prevent any of the vendors or bidders from making their way to the auction rooms or leaving a telephone bid.
Luckily all had calmed down on preview and auction day...at least outside! Inside, the auction rooms sales were as spectacular and lively as the dramatic weather had been earlier in the week! The excitement in the room was not altogether surprising as yet again, Partridge Auctions had managed to gather an amazing collection of rare and beautiful furniture and objects on display. Having been a close observer of each auction, it is impressive to see that the quality of products seems to surpass the previous auction each time. The name is definitely OUT THERE and getting increasingly noticed by vendors as well as bidders.
For those, who missed out on this sale here a few highlights:
MOST POPULAR BID
It is always interesting to see what items inspire the most active bidding. On this auction day, it was a set of 14 Raynaud & Co Limoge demitasse cups and saucers in blue and gold, which seem to have caught the collectors’ eyes. The bidding seemed to go on with ever increasing determination on the part of those who were totally set on taking these pretty cups back home.
TOP END PIECES
- An unusual Amethyst Coffee Table. It was bought in Soledad/Brazil, a place with extensive crystal mining and is not something you would easily find here in Europe.
- A large Danish Teak Vintage Dining Table by Ole Wanscher. His well known pieces show exquisite attention to detail and have become modern classics. This is a prime piece for any furniture collector and enthusiast who would love to call a very special vintage collectors item their own.
- A stunning pair of Urns produced by the famous Dresden Porzellan Manufactur.
UNUSUAL ITEMS
- An exquisite, hand painted Antique Fan with Mother of Pearl and Gold decoration. This is a piece, which will catch anyone’s eye on a night out
- A rare musical programme (Paris 1929) signed by famous Russian opera signer Fyodor Chaliopin;
- A ceremonial sword from Warsaw, which could certainly give his own account of an interesting past.
POPULAR PIECES
Among a wonderful collection of decorative and interesting furniture and accessories were some pieces which particularly caught my eye:
- A small Tiffany & Co sterling silver buttercup bowl adding a very stylish decorative touch to classic as well as contemporary interiors.
- A lovely turn-of-the-century writing desk, which was still in pristine condition.
- A wonderful selection of Louis XVI chairs and tables which were predominantly originals and certainly better value than anything you find as a reproduction in shops.
- Gustavian furniture that has seen a huge revival and is very popular at the moment. Gustavian items are well worth buying at auction as they prove better value than the copies, which have been produced over and over again.
SUPERIOR VINTAGE FOR THOSE IN THE KNOW
Partridge Auctions was very pleased to offer a special treat to all wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts by auctioning a very special selection of wine, most of which came from the same source as those recently sold off by the French government. Here some of the highlights:
- Petrus 2000
- Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1er Cru Classé Poulliac 2000
- Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1er Cru Classé Poulliac 2000
FUTURE PROJECTS
PARTRIDGE AUCTIONS ONLINE TO BE LAUNCHED SOON
Following increasing interest and demand, Partridge Auctions is excited about new plans to add its first online auction to its services. Details of the launch date will be sent out by e-mail, but you can also visit the website www.partridgeauctions.com for further news and details.
The online auction will cater to and reach a much wider group of vendors and bidders both within and also outside Switzerland. By broadening the radius substantially, Partridge Auction aims to continuously increase participation on both sides. This will allow a larger selection of vendors to sell their products through Partridge Auctions, increasing the potential for a growing variety of interesting and valuable products on offer. At the same time, local bidders or those who live in other parts of the world and don`t have the time or opportunity to attend auctions in person still have a chance of finding something special at affordable prices.
I am already looking forward to sharing my "sneak preview" in the run up to the first online auction on my next Partridge Auction Special.
